On 24 October, representatives of the dialogue committee of the Srebrenica Memorial and the organisation ‘Mothers of Srebrenica’, staff from the Srebrenica Memorial and representatives of the academic community of Bosnia and Herzegovina paid a visit to the Mauthausen and Gusen Memorials.

Among the group from the organisation ‘Mothers of Srebrenica’ was Šehida Abdurahmanović, who lost a son, her husband and 22 other close relatives in the massacre of 11 July 1995. The intensive discussions also looked at various possibilities for carrying out joint projects in future.

The previous week, a delegation from the Mauthausen Memorial had visited the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

Barbara Glück, director of the Mauthausen Memorial, together with colleagues Gudrun Blohberger, Aleksandra Bozic and Bernhard Mühleder, had the opportunity to talk with the director of the Srebrenica Memorial, Emir Suljagić, and the deputy director, Amra Begić Fazlić, about the different challenges facing memorial work. The aim is to develop the partnership between the two memorial sites in future in order to help preserve the memory of the victims of genocide and the Holocaust.
